Project Overview

Perched atop The Knickerbocker Hotel’s historicoxidized copper mansard roof, St. Cloud Rooftop Bar, designed by GabelliniSheppard, extends the hotel’s luxury interior design experience into a vibrant open-airsetting, creating a signature New York hospitality destination. When it first openedin 2015, St. Cloud was the only rooftop bar in Times Square, literally andfiguratively elevating the area’s nightlife scene.

Design Highlights

The unique venue encompasses both indoor and outdoorspaces, offering guests a range of experiences. Open seating at a35-foot Corian-topped bar, lush lounge areas, and a silver-clad dance floor welcome lively socializing, while a private indoor lounge and luxurious Sky Pods on the terraceprovide settings for more intimate conversations. Inside,a refined palette of cool and warm tones is layered with rich textures, softfabrics, and metallic accents. Outdoors, a living wall extends along theterrace’s interior walls, introducing greenery and contrast against therooftop’s Beaux-Arts façade. The terrace is also home to a sophisticated25-person seated cigar lounge by Nat Sherman. Expansive views of the Manhattan skyline and Times Square are framedthroughout the rooftop lounge,including a direct vantage point of One Times Square and Broadway—making St.Cloud a premier viewing destinationfor the New Year’s Eve ball drop and immersingguests suspended above Times Square in the movement, light, and energy below.
