The Alton Miami Beach
Miami Beach
Located on the corner of Fifth Street and Alton Road in Miami Beach’s sophisticated South of Fifth neighborhood, The Alton is a 5-story Class-A office building developed by Sumaida + Khurana. The building’s design is a collaborative endeavor between Pritzker Prize-winner Eduardo Souta de Moura as design architect, Gabellini Sheppard as interior architect, and Zyscovich as executive architect.
The Alton refines the modern office experience, taking a poetic approach to architecture through simplicity, beauty, and exquisite detailing. Materials, including concrete, glass, and pink coral stone, will be used consistently throughout the project. The building facade features concrete slabs and fins that gradually taper off at each floor, culminating in a knife-edge slab crowning the roof. Deliberate reveals between the fins accentuate the walls and ceilings, appearing as if they are floating volumes throughout the structure. A statement lighting installation welcomes visitors on arrival as they drive into the porte-cochère and enter the expansive lobby. The building design creates a sensation of weightlessness, evoking the visceral architectural style that is synonymous with Eduardo Souta de Moura. Completion of The Alton is expected in 2026.
